Wycombe Town FC progressed to the forth round of the Challenge Cup by beating Premier Division and title chasing, Royal Standard FC at Holtspur Sunday. Playing some of their best football of the season, 'Town' dominated the majority of the game with neat passing football and restrincted Royal Standard to a long ball game which Paul Shone, Vinny Cuva and Guy Walters had well in hand at the back. In the middle of the park Ross Middleton and Jonny and Leigh Mason ran the game and the 'Mason brothers', Leigh, Jonny and Billy, each grabbed a goal in the 3-1 win.
Wycombe Town FC entertained high flying Barn Club in the league, at Holtspur and dominated large parts of the game with quick precision passing, Town created many chances but failed to find the net. Midway through the second half Barn Club capitalised on a momentary confusion at the back and Jason DeGelas was deemed to have brought down the Barn Club centre forward to give away a penalty, which they duly converted to go in at half time 1-0 up! The second half continued as the first half and Town restricted Barn Club to spasmodic counter attacks but still failed to find the net! Midway through the second half Town won a penalty which Mark Nugent converted to make the final score 1-1 after Barn Club missed a penalty late on.
Wycombe travelled to Chesham today to take on Belmont FC in the Chesham Charity Cup. On a sideways slopping and very sticky pitch, Town got of to a flying start and went 1-0 up in thirty seconds with a great move finished of by Billy Mason, the game progressed with attacks at both ends and late in the second half Belmont hit the net for the teams to go in at half time one apiece. Town reorganised in the second half and and dominated large parts of the games but had lots of goal line action but could not get the ball in the net. extra time followed in the same vein and in the end Town triumphed 4-3 with successful penalties from Jonny Mason, Steve Perry, Billy Mason, Viny Cuva and Jason DeGelas saved the deciding penalty to send town through to the next round.
