Sundays Action
For their Trip to Bristol, Wycombe Town were missing seven 1st team regulars from the starting XI, who took the field in the last round of The FA Carlsberg National Sunday Cup, in their 5-3 win against Kerria Sports. Town had to dig deep and showed that they have got depth in quality within the squad and battled away to sneak the result 2-1. Hanham FC from Bristol, who were semi finalists last year, took a 5th minute lead, Town hit back a few minutes later through Nathan Richards. The game was then pretty even, three or four chances were spurned at both ends, Anthony Cooper in our goal came to Towns rescue on more than one occasion before with 2 minutes to go, sub Scott Webb, making his first appearance of the season for the first team, volleyed in an absolute wonder goal from the edge of the box to win the game when it looked like extra time was looming. Wycombe Town are now through to the last 16 where they can now draw anyone in the country, the first three rounds were regionalised.

FA SUNDAY CUP ADVENTURE CONTINUES

Kerria Sports 3-5 Wycombe Town

Wycombe Town's FA Sunday Cup adventure continues after they beat Kerria Sports 5-3 in an eight goal thriller at the Crydon Sports Arena on Sunday. Kerria Sports, who reached the last 16 in last years competition and included former Crystal Palace and Wycombe Wanderers Richard Harris in their ranks would provide a stern test for Town who knew they would have to be at their best if they wanted to progress in the competition.

Town started brightly and created one or two openings while Kerria broke dangerously with pace on a couple of occasions and showed what a threat they could be, Nugent blazed over from close range, Odlum in the Kerria goal had his palms stung from a Nicol drive as Town started to get on top and they took the lead midway through the first half, Lee Thompson got a toe end to an Ayres through ball, the onrushing Odlum smothered the attempt but the loose ball ran to Nugent who calmly slotted home into the empty net from the edge of the area. Kerria then hit back almost immediately when a scramble resulted in Ed Chemlal's desperate lunge bringing down striker Danny Tanner in the box, the ref pointed to the spot and Lloyd Marriott stepped up to scored emphatically. The game was now end to end and just before half time when Aaron Couch jinked in from the right wing, beat two, a flick of the outside of the boot and the ball nestled in the far corner off the post to send Town in 2-1 up at the break.

Town started the second half brightly, Lee Thompson found himself one on one within minutes of the restart but his effort was blocked, Town were made to pay when minutes later when Barry Tyson smashed in a rasping drive from the edge of the box to even things up once again. Town weren't rattled and promptly went up the other end and went in front again, they were awarded a penalty when Mitchel Woodward was tripped in the box, with 3 players already having missed 3 penalties this season for Town the responsibility was taken by Chris Ayres who stepped up and hit the ball hard and low but Odlum was equal to it and he tipped the ball around the post, his disappointment must have been immense as from the resulting corner Mitchel Woodwards diving header beat him and the defender on the line. Kerria were not to be outdone though and found themselves on terms again with 20 minutes to go as a towering leap from Lloyd Marriot resulted in the ball looping over a helpless Anthony Cooper in the Town goal.

The game was delicately poised at this stage and you sensed the next goal was crucial, it was Wycombe Town that got it as an Arron Couch cross eluded Kerria's keeper and Andrew Nicol was there at the far post to thump the header home, Kerria then threw everything they had at Town whose backline stayed strong and they managed to make the game safe with 5 minutes to go when a defenders slip let in Aaron Couch who calmly slotted the ball home for his second and Wycombe Town's 5th.

Unfortunately keeper Richard Smole was injured and was taken to hospital and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Wycombe Town took on Bedfont Sunday FC in the first round of the FA Carlsberg National Sunday Cup winning 3-1, to progress to round two where they will meet Kerria Sports FC from Croydon. Having competed well in the first half, Town found themselves one nil down at half time through a well taken free kick and should have been on equal terms but missed a penelty.

The second half Wycombe were in control and outplayed Bedfont for long periods. Two goals from Mark Nugent and one from Chris Ayres put Town into the next round.

'TOWN FINALLY LIFT PREMIER TROPHY'

Wycombe Town beat FC Beaconsfield 10-1 to keep 100% record in their last home game and were presented with the Premier Division Trophy after 3 years being runners up!

TOWN LIFT CHESHAM CUP

Having won the High Wycombe Premier league title a few weeks ago, 'Town' secured part two of their three Trophy target by picking up the Chesham Charity Cup on Sunday. Playing Belmont from the Chesham League, Town raced into the lead after three minutes and were 4-0 by half time. Belmont had come close a few times but 'Town' held on adding 3 more goals in the second half to end up 7-0 winners.

Wycombe Town 7-0 Belmont

Andrew Nicol 3, Leigh Mason 2, Mark Nugent & Mitchel Woodward

Nicol scored the first after 2 minutes capitalising on a poor passback from Belmont's centre half, poked the ball over the keeper and smashed the ball home to get Town off to the perfect start, the game was fairlyeven for the next quarter of an hour and keeper Anthony Cooper made two
outstanding saves to keep the score at 1 nil before Mark Nugent doubled the lead sweeping home a Leigh Mason cross. Nicol broke through to make it 3 before Nugent and Mason combined beautifully to make it 4 just before half time.

The second half started pretty slowly, Nicol grabbed his hat trick stabbing in from close range from Harding's cross shot before a trademark Mitch Woodward piledriver made it 6. Leigh Mason completed the scoring late on with a diving header.

WYCOMBE TOWN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 07/08

it's the first time WYCOMBE TOWN FC have won the Premier division in the clubs history, after 3 years of finishing runners up and 6 years in the top flight after winning Division One in 2002.

We've got a 100% record so far, 13 wins out of 13. We also have the Chesham Cup semi final this week, at home to top side Elderado Diamonds, at Wilks Park and we are in the Semi Final of the Challenge Cup so we are enjoying the season so far!!!

The Club was formed in 1994 as an under 14's team although the boys had been together since under 8's, the club has worked it's way up through the Star Junior league (the forerunner of the current BFP Junior league) and still has 6 or 7 from the early days, then through the Bucks Youth League and eventually into senior football, collecting a Reserve and 'A' team on the way.

We have also had our share of bad luck and we would like to dedicate the Premier Division Championship win to two of our young players who were sadly taken away from us, Andy Auguste and Nick Bird.

WYCOMBE TOWN FC RESERVES

The RESERVES beat AFC Golden Cross 2-5 with goals from Billy Mason 3 & Lee Watson 2, stand in keeper Craig Mant pulled off some great saves to help push the team up the league.

WYCOMBE TOWN FC 'A' TEAM

Wycombe Town 'A' were beaten 2-3 in a close encounter with Biffa with Town's goals coming from Kev Herbert 2 including a penalty.

WYCOMBE TOWN FC RESERVES
Wycombe Town and Black Boy played out a 2-2 draw at Wilks Park, 2-0 down at half time, Town showed real character to gain the draw with both second half goals coming from Lee Watson.

WYCOMBE TOWN FC 'A' TEAM
