SUNDAY 19th FEBRUARY

This week, all the attention for Wycombe Town FC was aimed at the Reserves, as the First Teams opponents Italia Unita FC, failed to turn up being unable to field a team.

Downley Albion 1 v 3 Wycombe Town Reserves
Away to Downley Albion, the game started well with Wycombe Town Reserves playing some neat passing football on a sticky pitch and with Downley tending to rely on hitting 'Town' on the counter attack. With the defence holding solid at the back and the midfield working hard creating chances, 'Town' were controling the game but needed to score. Forward Liam Holder broke through the Downley defence and was brought down for a penalty, James Hall stepped up and cooly slotted the ball into the net to make it 1-0. After a couple of scares, 'Town' continued to keep up the pressure and Mike Morrisey scored to make it 2-0, Downley responed and got one back to make it 2-1 but Town stepped up the pace of the game and Morrisey got another towards the end to make the final score 3-1 and to go top of the division.

TOWN UPSET THE ODDS!

Dee Road Rangers 2 – 3 Wycombe Town FC. Wycombe Town FC travelled to Reading to play high flying Dee Road Rangers, in their quarter final, Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup match, with a bare eleven, due to late injury calls on key players. Town were on the offensive from the start and after 25 minutes Vinny Cuva fired in to make it 1-0, The powerful Andy Nicol and Michael Butcher combination up front caused Dee Road Rangers all sorts of problems and 5 minutes later Andy Nicol slotted the ball into the net to make it 2-0 at half time. After 60 minutes Rangers got one back but shortly after, Cuva cut in from the wing to see his shot parried away but Nicol slammed it into the net to make it 3-1. With Town tiring, Rangers got one back to make the final score 3-2 . Town defended the remainder of the game resolutely with Alan McKie & Alister Nicol solid at the back and captain Darren Crane driving the midfield, the whole team deserved the ‘Man of the Match’ award for this Cup upset!
Wycombe Town FC Reserves 4-1 Hithercroft FC. A great 4-1 win for Wycombe Town Reserves over Hithercroft on Sunday propelled them to the top spot in Division two; goals were scored by James Hall 2, Blake George and Steve Perry 1 each.
